Generation-Counting Shortcut
- Same generation → sibling, cousin, or spouse
- One up → parent, uncle, or aunt
- One down → child, niece, or nephew
- Two up / down → grandparent / grandchild
Once you know how many rows apart two people are and the connecting person's gender, the relation is almost mechanical.
Coded / Symbol Relations
A typical scheme: A + B → A is father of B · A − B → A is mother of B · A × B → A is brother of B · A ÷ B → A is sister of B.
Method: convert each symbol to a word, track gender at every link (this is where marks are lost), and draw a 3-node tree even for coded chains — 10 seconds that prevents chain-reading errors.
